Summer Fun Week 3

I realize this is quite late as there is only one day left in the week.  Maybe you need some fun things to do this weekend or to just put in your back pocket for another day.

Day 1:  Plant Seeds
Day 2:  Nature Rubbings
Day 3:  Oobleck
Day 4:  Fizzing Sidewalk Paint
I think I had this one last week, but we didn't get a chance to do it.

Summer Activities

We had a lot of fun doing our activities last week.  I think it was a great idea to have something planned for each day.  We are going to do this again this week.

On Monday we:
Made Fruit Pizzas

Did a scavenger hunt

On Tuesday we:
Did Ice Cube Painting

On Wednesday we:
Were going to make playdough, but I just didn't feel like it so we played with Moon Sand instead

On Thursday we:
Did Candy Experiments

On Friday we:
Made Sponge Balls
These turned out really cute.  They were really cheap to make.  I found a package of 10 sponges at the Dollar Tree.  You need 3 sponges for one ball.  So each ball was only 33 cents.

Stay tuned next week for more fun activities!!!

Helping Out

I feel like I spend a lot of time picking up and cleaning the house.  I decided that the girls can help me do quite a few of these things.
I took colored craft sticks and gave a color to each area for cleaning.
Then on each stick I wrote something to do.
There are some sticks just for me.
It may look like there are a lot of sticks for some rooms, but I tried to break it down so each thing wasn't overwhelming.
I have them sorted in cups, but I hope to switch to something cuter and with a label.

I am thinking about have a place for each of the girls to put their sticks after they complete a task.  I have some empty buckets I brought home from school that might work out.

I will let you know how this works out.  I am thinking it will be pretty successful since the girls were really excited to help me think of different tasks to do in each room.

Do you have a successful system for having your kids do chores?

SuMmEr FuN!!!

School is out and I am home with the girls!
I don't want the days to get too long and boring so I have decided to do a fun activity each day.
My plan is to make a plan each weekend for the upcoming week.  That way I will know what we are doing and what materials we need.

I have a really great chart that I would love to share with you, but I can't seem to figure out how to upload it.  Maybe I can keep working on that.

The activities we are going to be doing this week are:
Monday:  Mini Fruit Pizzas
Tuesday:  Ice Cube Painting
Wednesday:  Making Play Dough
Thursday:  Sponge Balls
Friday:  Candy Experiments

Just click on the link to go to the activity directions.

Curly Sue

Annabelle has curly hair.  We usually just brush it out and it goes back curly, but is a bit fluffy.  Yesterday we were just hanging out so we decided to try some mousse in her hair.

We got her hair wet

Combed it out

Added the mousse

Flipped

Scrunched

Admired

Let it dry outside

She loves her hair

It got curlier as it dried more.
It was also easier to comb through the next day.
The mousse seemed to help it not snarle so much.

Little Helpers

Today was the perfect day to wash our van.  The girls were very good at soaping it up.

Love

Lovin' the Outdoors

We are loving this weather.  The girls love to play outside.  They really love nature - especially collecting it.  We have a lot of landscape rocks at our house and it is a favorite activity to find the prettiest, shiniest ones.

My Grandpa came over today to plant some tomato plants for me and the girls had to get in on the action.
